Chief Meteorologist
Knoxville, Tenn.
Heather Haley

Heather Haley is the Chief Meteorologist for WVLT News. She was born and raised in Knoxville, and says she is proud to work in her hometown.

Now an Emmy Award winning journalist, Heather grew up in Cedar Bluff and went to Farragut High School, and then on to the University of Tennessee. She is proud to be All Vol! She went back to school to focus on Meteorology and get a second bachelor’s degree, via the online program from Mississippi State.

Her husband is also from Knoxville. They have a son, a daughter, and two adopted dogs. They love to spend time outdoors as a family! They are often kayaking, camping, or just spending time in the backyard. They’re also very active in their church.

Heather says growing up in East Tennessee is helpful in her forecasting, because it can be difficult for others to understand the varying terrain. Witnessing how the Plateau, Valley, and the Smokies impact the weather is beneficial. She says meteorologists often refer to our region as one of the hardest to forecast, but Heather loves the challenge.

Heather can be found at community events and local schools on a regular basis.
