KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Pieces of white plastic found at an East Knoxville construction site were briefly mistaken for bones, officials with the Knoxville Police Department told WVLT News.

The plastic pieces were originally discovered Wednesday at a construction site behind D’s Liquor. KPD officials were notified, responded to the scene and took the plastic pieces to the Medical Examiner’s Office for testing.

The manager of D’s Liquor, Dee Patel, originally told WVLT News that the plastic was human remains. KPD officials later confirmed that they believed the plastic to be bones, but had to test them to confirm whether they were human or not.

KPD investigators were able to confirm that the plastic was not bones, human or otherwise, after testing them at the Medical Examiner’s Office.
