KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tennessee Highway Patrol officials released details of the Loudon Co. I-75 crash late Tuesday night. Six people were transported for injuries following the crash, officials confirmed to WVLT News. Two were transported by air, two by ground and two by private vehicle, officials said.
The crash, which occurred around 1 p.m. Tuesday, involved three vehicles: a tractor trailer, and SUV and a minivan, according to THP officials. There were eight total occupants, but only six were transported for injuries.
Ashley Rolen, 35, and three passengers, aged 16, 12 and 3 were riding in the SUV and were injured, according to THP officials. Carolyn Pratt, 80, and Carolyn Haun, 54, were riding in the minivan and were injured, THP officials say.
The crash was instigated when the tractor trailer came into contact with the SUV from behind, which caused the SUV to impact with the minivan. The minivan traveled off the interstate and came to an uncontrolled stop to the right of the interstate, the SUV came to a stop in the roadway and the tractor trailer came to a stop in the median.
This all according to THP officials.
The investigation is ongoing and WVLT News will report more details as they are released.
